Intro to Machine Learning – A Force that is Shaping the Future of Recruiting
Self-driving cars, Amazon’s personalized recommendations, survival statistics in medicine – these are all examples of the power of machine learning. The concept is not only making news and changing the way we live, it’s having a real and growing impact on all aspects of business — and recruiting is no exception. What exactly is machine learning? How does it work? How can we put it to work in the recruiting space?

In this session, data science and talent solutions expert Summer Husband of Randstad Sourceright will explain the concepts and walk through examples of machine learning at work. Whether you are a strategic decision maker or work on the front lines of recruiting, this is a great chance to get a clear view into an area of innovation that will change the way we recruit and manage talent in the future.

AI in Search: How Semantic Search Changes Sourcing
It's 2017 and sourcers and recruiters have more access to more human capital data than ever before, yet most are still only finding and reviewing a fraction of available and relevant results and unknowingly excluding qualified candidates unless they understand and employ advanced methods of manual information retrieval.

In this keynote, Glen Cathey will explain how semantic search powered by AI can yield IA – Intelligence Amplification, or the effective use of technology to augment human intelligence and capability. Glen will showcase 2 of the most promising solutions available and you will learn how semantic search specifically impacts recruitment today and how further advancements will likely impact recruitment in the future.

Sourcing in the New Machine Age
Two hundred years ago, people began to harness energy in ways that we could never imagine before. That power drove the industrial revolution and transformed history. Today, we are experiencing yet another age of transformation. This age is not about steam power, coal and electricity. It’s about harnessing information. Cars can drive themselves. Virtual reality is here. We can literally print an entire house. This is the New Machine Age, and through the advances it brings in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, it is changing the way we work.

In this session, analytics and HR systems expert Jason Roberts of Randstad Sourceright explores the emergence of the New Machine Age and its impact on recruiting. What do AI and robotics offer the future of recruiting? With the technology that is making its way to us, what portions of the recruiting process make sense to automate? Can a robot write a job description, a Boolean search or even interact with candidates and sourcers in the near future? Where should recruiting organizations focus their efforts to add value when “Skynet” arrives? The new Machine Age has arrived. Are you ready?

How to Ensure You Survive the Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Disruption
Enough with the buzzword bingo. We get it. Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and chatbots are going to take over the recruiting process. The primary question practitioners should ask is:

What parts of the recruiting process will be automated and where does that leave me?

This session will explore this question and provide attendees with practical tips and tactical takeaways to ensure they are one of the last sourcers and recruiters standing at the end of the digital disruption.

It’s about the human: Sourcing for soft skills

LinkedIn’s recent Global Recruiting Trends report unearthed an unexpected finding: talent leaders ranked the use of soft skills assessments among the top hiring trends for 2017. Despite the demand, however, employers still struggle to find candidates with strong soft skills. Could a shift in the way we source be the solution?

Jennifer Shappley, Sr Director, Talent Acquisition at LinkedIn will explore how sourcing for soft skills -- personal attributes that help people interact effectively with others, like communication, teamwork, and critical thinking -- is a process that takes a combination of human investigation and automation.

Using company insights and data, Jennifer will discuss the following:

  • Industries, talent levels and geographical indicators that provide specific trends in candidates with strong soft skills -- pulled from the LinkedIn platform.

  • The addressable market of people mapped to soft skills as listed (and endorsed) on their profiles by these criteria.

  • Top 10 soft skills sourcers should look for in a candidate, and the technology that enables targeting the addressable market.

  • A specific example mapping hard and soft skills together in a search for a specific role to illustrate how you can do this too on other across similar segments and on other platforms.

  • Tactics that will help make finding those adaptable, creative candidates, a walk in the park.

With 58 percent of hiring managers finding that the lack of soft skills among candidates is “limiting their company’s productivity,” soft skills are proving to be exceedingly important to the bottom line. Jennifer will spark a thought provoking conversation on how the sourcing community can pivot to meet those needs.

Can we Automate Being Human?
In recruitment we love to call people anything but people; we call them candidates, talent, resources, and worse. Have we forgotten how to be human in this automated age? Have all the tools and shortcuts made us forget how to approach people as, erm, people? Is that why terms like hyperpersonlization and profersonal are on the rise?

Katrina Collier will challenge sourcers & recruiters to rise above the robotics and to put the human back in. You’ll see clear examples of why the wrong automation only creates noise and discover how to ensure you’re not losing that all important personal touch, because isn’t recruitment really all about engaging with people?
